MachineAstro Launches VIBit-BP-ATEX, Expanding Predictive Maintenance into ATEX Zone 0 Environments

The launch marks a significant step forward for industries such as specialty chemicals, pharmaceutical APIs and oil & gas, enabling real-time machine health monitoring in areas where explosive gases or combustible dust are continuously present—zones traditionally considered inaccessible for wireless condition monitoring.

Most wireless condition-monitoring solutions are limited to ATEX Zone 1 or Zone 2 environments. VIBit-BP-ATEX extends monitoring capabilities into Zone 0 (Gas) and Zone 20 (Dust), supporting continuous asset visibility in high-risk locations where safety constraints have historically restricted instrumentation.

This capability allows operators to monitor critical assets such as reactor agitators, solvent pumps, wellhead compressors, injection pumps, and equipment operating within vapor-heavy tank farms and enclosed process units-assets where failures can result in severe safety, environmental, and financial consequences.

VIBit-BP-ATEX leverages Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) communication to enable safe, reliable wireless data transmission in hazardous environments. With ultra-low power consumption and minimal RF energy, BLE supports intrinsically safe operation while maintaining high resilience to industrial interference. This infrastructure-light approach simplifies deployment, reduces installation complexity, and ensures compliance with stringent hazardous-area safety requirements.
